PFA to appear before Senate Inquiry into the Fair Work Bill 2008

On Thursday, 19 February, PFA CEO Mark Burgess and representatives from the AFPA and The Police Association (Victoria Branch) along with Giuseppe Carabetta from The University of Sydney will appear before the Senate Education, Employment and Workplace Relations Committee in Canberra in relation to the Inquiry into the Fair Work Bill 2008.  To view the PFA Submission to the Inquiry, click here.

National Audit of Police Capabilities

The Federal Minister for Home Affairs Bob Debus has announced a “National Audit of Police Capabilities” in line with its pre election commitment to the Police Federation of Australia (PFA). The audit will be conducted by Mr Roger Beale AO who has extensive experience working at senior levels of government.

Government announces National Police Service Medal

Prominent Police Academic Researcher Wins 2008 Australian Learning and Teaching Council Citation

Sydney University senior lecturer and prominent police academic researcher Giuseppe Carabetta from the Sydney University Faculty of Economics and Business has been awarded a citation in the 2008 Australian Learning and Teaching Council awards. Carabetta has done considerable work with the Police Federation of Australia (PFA) writing and researching various issues particularly in relation to police employment matters. 

Assistance For Police Officers to Complete Individual Tax Returns

All individual tax returns must be completed and submitted to the ATO by no later than 31 October 2008.

The ATO has developed a guide for Police Officers which explains the claims you can and cannot make by looking at the common expenses you might incur as a police officer.  It also includes information about some changes to the tax laws that have occurred during the past few years.

Redevelopment of PFA Website
