PFA Vice President, Jon Hunt-Sharman and CEO, Mark Burgess will appear before the Parliamentary Joint Committee on the Australian Crime Commission's Inquiry into the legislative arrangements to outlaw serious and organised crime groups on Thursday, 6 November 2008.

The Federal Government is currently conducting a review of the Northern Territory Emergency Response and the PFA has today, made it's submission to the Review Board.  For more information about the Review, visit the Government website by clicking here or to view the PFA's submission, click here.

Sydney University senior lecturer and prominent police academic researcher Giuseppe Carabetta from the Sydney University Faculty of Economics and Business has been awarded a citation in the 2008 Australian Learning and Teaching Council awards. Carabetta has done considerable work with the Police Federation of Australia (PFA) writing and researching various issues particularly in relation to police employment matters. 

All individual tax returns must be completed and submitted to the ATO by no later than 31 October 2008.

The ATO has developed a guide for Police Officers which explains the claims you can and cannot make by looking at the common expenses you might incur as a police officer.  It also includes information about some changes to the tax laws that have occurred during the past few years.

The PFA website is currently undergoing a redevelopment and we are experiencing some technical problems.  We are resolving these issues and hope the site will be fully functional in the next few days.  Please don't hesitate to email us on pfa@pfa.org.au should you have any specific problems to report.
